Welcome to Greenway Antiques. Colin and Jean Greenway first established their business in 1972 before settling into the premises in Witney where they opened their long established shop and have remained trading for the last 35years. You will find the showrooms packed with interesting and eclectic stock; comments most often made by people are: ‘We love coming here you never know what you might find, and of course we always find something and therefore look forward to our next visit.’ A recent comment by Sylvia Vetta of the Oxford Times: ‘whether you buy or not, the welcome will be warm.’
We have been members of the Cotswold Antique Dealers Association since 1978 and during that time have put on three exhibitions; ‘A horse A horse my kingdom for a horse’…. an exhibition of Rocking Horses: ‘Irons in the Fire’…. The history of the hearth and our most recent ‘Strike a Light’…its Irons in the fire part 2 which contained not only the hearth but early lighting. All have been very successful and we are working on next years exhibition; so watch this space!
It is not only the selling of stock but the social history of the piece, that we believe to be important, to forget the history of the Antique for sale and be aware only of the profit would be very sad. Customers welcome this and feel comfortable with our way of dealing. So whether it is a 17th century Coffer or a set of Georgian Fire Tools, an Arts and Crafts Table or a Victorian Chest of Drawers, you will find it at Greenway Antiques, as well as the unusual!
